Let’s have a Cinderella Party! Girls Night!

Cinderella release September 15, 2015

Guess what’s coming out on DVD–CINDERELLA! The In-Home Release Date: September 15, 2015. This new version of Cinderella was originally released in Theaters on Nov 19, 2014 and starred Lily James, Cate Blanchett and Richard Madden.

I have always loved the 1957 musical Cinderella, starring Julie Andrews as Cinderella, with all of the beautiful songs:

“…But the world is full of zanies and fools
Who don’t believe in sensible rules
And won’t believe what sensible people say.
And because these daft and dewey-eyed dopes keep building up impossible Hopes,
Impossible things are happening every day.”

Because of this, no other Cinderella ever meets up to my expectations. However, it was an excuse for girl’s night with the granddaughters, so I grabbed it. I ran to the dollar store and grabbed crowns, wands, candy bracelets and necklaces and we were off.

This was truly one of the best movies I have ever seen. It taught the girls about confidence and kindness and love and to always, “Have courage and be kind.” The best part for me was when the Fairy Godmother picked up her wand to change Cinderella’s dress. I looked down the row at my sweet girls and they all were completely transfixed on the movie, mouths open in awe and wands up. I didn’t get the camera up fast enough and missed the photo.

Now Cinderella is coming out on DVD. This is a perfect chance for you to have a Girl’s night with your granddaughters. And a second chance for me to get that photo.

Order your DVD

First you will want to pre-order your Cinderella on DVD. You can order at a store or order here. If you want to have a double feature, you may want to pick up another Cinderella while you are out or you can order one of the other Cinderella’s on this page. You may want to buy or order books and games to play as well. Or look on your bookshelf; you may already own Cinderella.Have Courage and be kind

Crowns and wands

Your local dollar store may have crowns, wands and candy necklaces. Mine did. If you are on a really tight budget, you can get crowns at some Burger Kings. I found I had to ask. The kids can turn the crowns around and color or paint on the back side. Or you can check your local craft store. I found a bag of 12 crowns made of a cardstock for $15. Or you can order online. There’s a fun set below, in the shopping section, as an idea.

You may want to pick up or order a Disney Cinderella doll to send home with each of the granddaughters or a Cinderella t-shirt or a poster with the “Have courage and be kind” slogan from the movie. Links to these are below.

Don’t forget the popcorn!

Grab some popcorn and theater candy and blankets to snuggle with and have your camera ready to catch that image of the girls with their wands raised and then post it here s
o we can see it too! And remember to always, “Have courage and be kind.”
